Here you will find scrapbooking ideas. There's a ton of older posts that used the Cricut, but lately I haven't been using it much and well, my sewing machine is gaining more miles by the day.

2008 Revisited.. and BLOG CANDY TOO!!!

Here is a recap of my Favorites of 2008!
(Caution! PICTURE HEAVY!!)
This is when Design Studio first came out, and many of us had the George cartridge, so many of these designers were made with JUST that cartridge by manipulating the shapes and sizes, and now many of the shapes and designs can be found on the current cartridges, so these files are handy if either you just have the trial version of Design Studio, or if you don't have the cartridge that it is on!

January 3rd, 2008 My First Blog <---- this was the very first post that I did!
January 3rd, 2008 My First Creation <----- and this was the FIRST cut file I posted!

January 13, 2008
Snowman 3 and Snowman 5 - Anyone remember these cute (ha, and plain!) snowmen?
January 14th, 2008 This is one of my favorite files! Kitchen 1 and Kitchen 2
And don't for get the Laundry too! There was a Basic Washer and Dryer and a Front Load set too
Card made by Kimberly

I also had a collection of Video games, including Playstation , Guitar Hero , Rock Band,Gameboyand XBox

March 2, 2008 Here is a fireplace, that is made with only George! Check out the "flames"!

April 10, 2008 . . . The day I got stuck in my driveway as I was heading to McDonalds for some Iced Coffee. Many people drove by, and one guy tried to help, but I think he was in a hurry cause he didn't stay very long. But then.. My Mail Man, I was told his name is Gordy, stopped. Not only did he have a ton of packages for me, but he helped me get my car unstuck!
So, as a Thank you, I made him a card, and I also stuck in $20 to the local gas station in there for him! (and yes, after I was unstuck... I went and got my iced coffee!)
Here's an image that has yet to be put on a cartridge! PC needs a Mini "Weather" one, I think a Solutions one would be able to cover most things! TORNADO!
And here is the ONLY layout I did that year... and it was a 6x6! This was an "All about me" page
August 2008 Did you get any NEW kitchen appliances and want to scrapbook about it?! Well, there's a cut file for that!

August 2008 was also about the time that I got into card making...
September 2008.. Wordbooks! There's a good handful of them in the archives.. this is one that I actually had time to cut and put base papers on!
PEACE! As simple as this design is.. I still have people asking about it, or looking for it.. since PC just recently came out with "Feeling Groovy", there wasn't really a peace sign out there...
Visit the DYING FLOWERS post to see my "review" on different ways to color your own flowers
October 2008 - The month of Anniversaries.. My parent and my Brother both got married in October. Of Course, my parents were Married in 1982, and my brother 25 years later in 2007
Both couples are the PERFECT PEAR!
December 2008 - Check out the fun I had with Diamond Dust!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great projects. The very first thing we cut with the cricut was my grandson's name.

Happy Blog-iversary, Amanda! I am cracking up because you were one of the 1st blogs I started to read because of your AWESOME cut files! You were one of the few people to only use George for DS files which was one of the few cartridges I had! I think the Kitchen Cabinets were the most memorable project for me... I don't know why but I thought that was SO cool! Anyway, I'm rambling... my first favorite Cricut project was a basic layout that I did with my daughter's 1st birthday photo. I needed a one pager to start the album so I cut a bunch of flowers with George and then "Happy 1st Birthday" too. I put the 1st on top of the real balloon she is holding in the photo. I was really proud of myself over that one!

Wow~you sure have come a long way....what wonderful ideas you started out with. Love the kitchen one and of course my kids would love the gaming remote control. One of my first projects was making my own cricut face out of the george and basic shapes cartridge. It turned out so cute!
Happy New Year! Looking forward to your new creations for 2011.

Hi Amanda,

I was going to pick this book up today while I was at Michaels but I put it down after some thought. What are your thoughts on it, would it be good for a beginner card maker on the Cricut?

Thanks,
Annette

I got my beloved Cricut when my grandson had just graduated from high school. I had never done paper crafting before but tackled a scrapbook of his life in high school sports. It turned out to be a 105, 12x12 page book. So much fun to make. I'd love to have your blog candy since I'm into card making now.
Happy New Year,
Mary Ann

I remember almost all those files and when you posted them!
Gosh my first project with the Cricut was probably when I cut a Happy Birthday title for my son in law's page. I was so excited to see what it could do and was so thrilled when I placed the title on the page! LOL Ahh how things have advanced and glad I had all of my blog friends to use their talent and cut files without having to do it myself!
Congrats on the blogaversary!

Kris in Alaska said...

Wow, I don't know if I can remember my first project but I know it had to be a card because that's all I do with my Cricut. I think it would have been a birthday card for either a co-worker or family member. You ask such hard questions of my memory ;0) Lol
It's awesome to look back and see how far you've come!

Congratulations on your 3rd blogaversary! I enjoy the variety of your posts! The first thing I did with my Cricut was to cut all the basic shapes I knew I would use again and again (circles, ovals, scallops, tags etc.) from ugly paper. I cut them in 1/4 increments to 5 inches and labeled them according to cart, page and size. What a great time and paper saver this has been! I keep them in zip top baggies on a binder ring for easy reference.
My first actual project was a birthday card. I've learned a lot since then from yours and other blogs. Thank you for sharing!

My first project was a snowman to put in our waiting area at work.

First project I did with my cricut was to make stencils with freezer paper. The stencils were to hand paint a couple of canvas purses for my sister and niece. Now that I think of it, I really should have taken a picture, LOL!

Happy Blog-iversary! Wow! How cool to look back over the past three years and see how both you and your crafting have grown and changed. I just recently got my Cricut and just used it for my daughter's school project - an advertisement board for her for Market Day at school. She sold popcorn and I used it for all the writing - her company name, prices, types of popcorn, and logo. It was so easy and so fun. Have yet to get cartridges or any programs to work with it, but loving it in it's original form anyway. Thanks for the chance to win the cards book as I LOVE making cards!

Oh, wow! My first use of the baby cricut was used in a layout for a heritage page. I made 3 (all similiar) heritage books for my kids. I worked from my great grandmother to present. I have just recently started making cards. Would love to win this book. Thanks for the opportunity.

Happy anniversary to you! I got my Cricut 3 years ago also, right after I started scrapping for the first time. I was so new at everytihing scrapping-related that I honestly don't have a favorite from back then. My style has evolved to shabby chick/vintage. One of my favorite cartridges is the Storybook one.
Thanks for the chance to win the book. It looks great.

The trip down memory lane was wonderful. I don't remember my first cut but I do remember getting files from talented people like yourself. Thank you then and now for everything you do to make my cricut life easier. I remember doing the word book for my daughter's college graduation in 2008. What an adventure learning how to do it. Now it seems so much easir.
Happy anniversary and I know there will be many more.

freetimegone said...

How soon can we expect to see your name as the designer of the Weather Cartridge? With all your talent I am sure you could do it.

April said...

What an amazing trip down memory lane. I hadn't even started scrapping in 08. I knew about it, but thought it wasn't for me and that I would never start. Fast forward 2 years ahead and now I am scrappin...never say never. The very first cricut creation that I made was layering words. I thought it was so cool that I could now use this machine and it would cut a letter and I could put a shaddow behind it. Then I did some baby feet and hands. The first couple of months I was using maybe 3 carts....now I have about 60 of them. There are even some carts I have that have never been used yet which amazes me. No more buying for me though...became disabled and now live on disability checks. Just glad I got my machine and the carts I have now. Keep up with the inspiration for us.

KimberleyG said...

That's quite the kitchen set you've designed. I'm afraid I don't really use my Cricut much. Maybe having the book would help give me ideas and incentive. Thanks for the chance to win.

One of the first things I cut with my Cricyt was the saying Happy Birthday that I used as a gift tag for ny great nephew. It started out to be on just a card but I sized it toooo big and didn't have time to do another. Oh well, It still made a great gift tag and was part of the learning curve.

My first project with my cricut was Cinderella! Oh, those tiny little eyes and mouth!! Glad I kept trying because I am in love!!
BTW, I used your tornado for a 50 states paper doll swap. I had Kansas as one of my states, so it was perfect to go with Dorothy!!

Great things you do with your cricut!!! The first things I cut with it - my cousins baby boy banner and sister-in-law's baby girl banner, they was born 10 days apart, but i did it in 30 mins, my first time use, with CLASSIC FONT CARTRIDGE.

The Scrappin Diva said...

Oh man the pear couple how cute is that

LEEANN said...

Wow, don't you love looking back and seeing all of your creations again? One of my favorite things that I made with the cricut was a scrapbook for my in-laws. It was a heritage album and I took photos from boxes and drawers in their house and surprised them with an album. It brought tears to my father in laws eyes. This has to be the most rewarding thing that I have made.

BJ said...

My first cut was on the baby bug and was my Granddaughter Violet's name using the George cartridge. It wasn't long before I realized that the Expression could do more things so I sold my baby bug and purchased the expression machine which came with 2 free cartridges. I have built my cartridge collection to over 30 (most I have not even used yet) ;-( I have been searching blogs to find ones that help me learn how to use the machine as I am a 'show me with detailed instructions' type of person! Your site is helping immensely. I would really like to win the Card Making with Cricut give away book for this week.
