Sink and Garbage Disposal

Thursday, July 2, 2009

There was a request on the cricut board for a Sink and Garbage disposal, so I thought that I would share it will everyone!
Sink and disposal.. made to fit on a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card front
This needs to be layered "just" right.

There are 3 mats

Mat 1 has components for Dishwasher and sink with pipes
Mat 2 has the card base, Cabinet outline and countertop
Mat 3 has the disposal and faucet

Cut the card base, Cabinet outline and countertop - each in a different color
I would cut the sink and pipes in either White or Silver, and dishwasher in your preference. (I like black base with silver on top.. or silver base with black on top)
when layering.. have the cabinet base on the bottom. Then put the sink and pipes - this goes just a little over the cabinet base, as then the countertop goes on top, with some of the sink showing on the top.
I would mount the faucet behind the sink, as the base part of the faucet is 'bigger' than normal to do this.

Would love to see the finished product!!!

Asian Flair - Owl Whimsy

Monday, June 15, 2009

The Current Challenge on Owl Whimsy is to use their New Asian Flair stamp!

Here's my "Submission" for the free stamp set!

I started with plain white cardstock, covered it with Tim Holtz Distress ink (Antique Linen) and then printed the stamp.. HINT - Print stamp, THEN ink and crimple. it was a PAIN getting crimpled paper through the printer! Flowers were colored in with Brush Pens, and then also I outlined the vase. "Flowers" are Yarn wrapped around twist ties. I cut a slot on the top of the vase, stuck them in, and then used foam tape to mount on to the background paper - which is from the Far East DCWV stack, but you can't really see it too much. The Japanese Symbol Means "Friend", which was also printed on the crumpled paper. I also used Tim Holtz's Frayed Burlap, as an accent color. The overall size of this card is 7 1/2 x 5. (such odd sizes!)

Thanks for looking!

Honest Scrap Award!

I was given this award by EIYIYI at Dropped Stitches. The rules are to state 10 honest things about oneself and then pass this on to 7 other bloggers. Here goes.

1 - I have a younger brother, who got in trouble more than I did, because I blamed everything that I did on him.
2-I was 4 when I started Swimming lessons, and took it for 5 years, and still couldn't get past the "Beginners" group. (at the age of 9, I was the oldest in the class, and I still wouldn't jump off the diving board)
3- My Drivers License shows me as a blonde, but I'm really brunette - I get funny looks now and then cause the picture looks NOTHING like me!
4- I love my job, and I have dreams of physically being "stuck" in the CAD program that we use - I design kitchens, and you know how frusterating it is to be dreaming, heading to the 'fridge' and there's nothing in it!
5- I like to cook, however I don't do it enough.
6- The only way I can drink coffee that I brew at home, is to do 1/2 milk, 1/2 coffee and lots of chocolate syrup.
7- I am scared of failing financially, but I don't worry about money.
8- I could eat Pizza everyday - With Onions and Green peppers.. and extra extra cheese..
9- I can't stand one of my grandmothers, and every time I go to see my parents, I don't tell her that I'm up there so I don't have to see her.
10 - I spend WAY too much time on Facebook. Here's a link to my page. I have 350 "friends" on there, but I don't know 150ish of them. I love playing Mafia wars, and those 150ish I added so they could be in my mafia.

And I'd like to pass this on to::

Jen's Brain Things
All4Sydney Has caught the bug
Krafy Kris

78th Birthday Car with Model T

Friday, June 12, 2009

My Grandfather is going to be 78 on the 15th. Here is the card that I made for him!
Card Base - Cut with SCAL - if you look closely, you can see that it was cut as a postage stamp. (He collects stamps, so that's where I started!)
I did it in white for a stronger base, and then I did the top layer as a separate piece. I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Antique Linen - to create the "old" look. I applied the distress ink to blank white paper, then crinkled it many times, and then added more to get the ink right on the creases. Then, I cut out the postage stamp image on my cricut. (note - Next time I do this, I'm going to cut the image first, then ink and crinkle. The blade kinda cut it, but being bubbly and uneven it did not cut all the way through.)

The Car is an 1915 Model T - SVG that I made last night, and then I cut a "78" for the upper corner.

1915 Model T

I am so excited!!!

So, I found this image of a silhouette of a model T card... That I will show what I do with later, once I cut it..
After going between Paint clean it up, and inkscape..
This is the end result!!
It looks like it will cut out OK, and I took out the tiny cuts with Paint
The wheels are a little loopsided, but hey.. I don't think they were 'perfect' back then!
This is a 1915 Model T Ford

Anyways, file is attached, I hope that someone else could use it for Fathers Day!
This is and SVG, and cutable with the Cricut, and SCAL
