First Layouts of Bianca's Baby Book

I started Bianca's Baby book last night. I wanted to get the Titles/photo frames and journal boxes all glued down, and have them all decorated ready to go, so that later I can just pop the pictures in them.

I'm using the same background paper, and paper for the photo mats through out the book. I have all the pages done, just need to do the embellishments on them!

I been getting some really great deals on local trade sites... and it's not Craigslist! I was told about a Facebook group, and I guess there's many of them for all sorts of areas of the country. This has been saving me tons of money on baby clothes! Baby Girl Bianca has enough clothes now for her first 6 months! Here's just one of the lots that I got, I have a box full, and there's well over 50 outfits from newborn to 6 months, and I paid only $50 for it. So if you're in the market for something, check on Facebook to see if there is a group set up for your area! (Try searching for "local trade, swap, free" groups.)

The Nursery is *almost* done! Just needs a few minor details, and it's ready for Baby Girl Bianca Elizabeth :)

All butterflies were cut with SCAL and SVG's from Lettering Delights I used ones from the Oh Hello Flutter Set.

Bianca's Name was cut with Cricut Cartridge Ashlyn's Alphabet.

30" Paper Doll

What happens when someone requests a 30" Football paper doll that needs to be painted onto a wall, and there is only one room in the house that hasn't been painted to test it out before it gets sent to it's final destination?? It ends up on one of the kids's walls. LOL. I've got a friend who is doing her Son's room in Viking colors, and she saw my valentines from 2 years ago with the mini Farve. She asked if I could make it bigger and be able to trace it to paint on to the wall. Since she's coming to town tomorrow, thought I'd get cracking on it.

I used PDDU and Design Studio to blow up a body and then had to line all the corresponding pieces so that it would be a good fit. Then, I cut it out of Mat Board and taped all the pieces together. Since I wanted to be sure that everything would fit as needed, and it helps to have a visual aid, I traced it onto an empty wall in Jordan's room.

Then, using Acrylic paint that I had on hand, Adrian Peterson was painted. It didn't take too long to paint and let him dry, and when Jordan decides on a color for his room, it can be covered up... but I'm hoping that he'll keep it and we can use molding to make a "frame" around him :) We'll see.. he's not much of a Vikings fan, but maybe he'll grow on him...

Shooting Star

Sarah's school has a Shooting Star of the week where each student gets recognized and gets to pick like the books they read and activities throughout the week. She had to make a poster for it. Of course I wasn't going to let Tom lounge on the couch, and he was a good sport in cutting out the pictures and using the "Threading Water" border punch to do the mats for her name. and Yes, that's the Glue Glider Pro that he's using to stick the letters to the mat :)

Her name was cut with SCAL using the Comic Sans font. And the person is from Everyday Paper Dolls.

"New" Bathroom!

OK, so it's not 100% done, but I'm excited that it's made it this far!

A few days ago I posted my Christmas list.. New Toilet seat. New Paint. New flooring. I wanted the bathroom upstairs to not only be functional, but well, enjoyable to look at too. Here are pictures of what it used to look like.

^ there is a sink in here, however it didn't work. Waterlines are all there, but for whatever reason, Tom could not get it to produce water. More on that below...

^ the toilet seat was replaced before I took a picture... it was not pretty beforehand...

A trip to Menards, and $25 later... I had new paint (Bargain area, $5) New Flooring (45 sq ft for $12 on sale) Toilet seat ($8 on sale)

The tiles are the peel and stick kind, and I only used about half the box, so I can use the rest for the downstairs bathroom when

we get to it. They were really easy to cut and set, and Yes :) I did it by myself. Tom came up to see the progress and I put him to work with some of the painting.. needless to say, he did around the edges and then quickly went back downstairs.

By the end of the night, the walls and floor were done. There was still one thing bugging me.. and that was the sink. It had not worked for the 4 years that Tom has been in the house. And it was a simple fix. And he was very impressed that I figured it out. On the faucet, there's the spout where the water comes out. All I did was take it off. *poof* the water worked. The gasket and screens were filled with rust and sediments from the well water that it clogged and caused the water to not come out. At

one point in time, before he moved in, it must have been left on for a long time just dripping out. We soaked the inner pieces of the spout and now they look brand new, and the water works. *happy dance*

The set above is the one that my mom got for me, and I'll get that on Sunday when we drive up to MN for Christmas. I'll post a final picture then :)

Decorative Cork Boards

I've had these cork boards in my stash for about 2 years now, and I've FINALLY altered them and made them pretty!

The first picture is how they looked when I bought them... pretty boring.. But with a little spray adhesive and some fabric, they will look great on the girl's walls... and they double as christmas gifts!

Tissue Mosaic Candle Holders

Working at a liquor store has its perks. Such as I get these cute glasses for FREE whenever we need to ungroup gift packs. Sure, some have logos on them such as Baileys.. but they are easily covered up with a little bit of Mod Podge and tissue. I've been saving these for about a month now, and just now have finally gotten to decorating them. Of course I had help :) and Sarah did twice as many as I did.

These were really easy to make! Just cut the tissue into squares, they don't have to be perfect and adhere with Mod Podge. Then use the Mod Podge to coat the whole glass afterwards (it dries clear) Once that was completely dry, I clear coated it with Rust-oleum in a satin finish.

Mine is the first one.. and Sarah decorated the other 3 sets :) We'll be getting some inexpensive candles and giving these as gifts!

Well.. stopped in to the Auto body shop today around noon... not so good news... at that point in time, the damage to my car was at $4700. They have it booked at $8500, so it was a 55% loss so far... and they still had to put it on the lift and check out the underbody.

I got a call around 4pm with the final damage... $7200... 82% loss. I talked to the insurance and the threshold for totaled is 65% in Iowa. So, looks like once they get all the paperwork straightened out between the body shop and the insurance company, my car loan will be paid off, and I'll have roughly $2000 for a down payment on a new car.

I didn't catch everthing that needed to be repaired, and half the stuff I don't know what exactly it is, but some of the things included : Grill, front bumper, driver and passenger doors, Struts, Rockers and craddle. They didn't even factor in the frame itself since it was up so high.

Now for the fun part of Car shopping and hoping that I can get approved for a decent loan. Talked to a dealer today and they have a "Bad credit no problem" deal, and they claim to be the best in the business (around here) on getting people loans. I've been kinda eyeing a 2008 Chevy Impala :) Praying that it all works out for me, as I can NOT be with out a car.. that would be a wonderful Christmas present to myself, and well, I know that the dealers have to meet their year end numbers, so that may help "push" the loan through in my favor :)

Thanks all for the well wishes and prayers! I do want to quick clarify one thing.. Baby is due to arrive in April, so s/he was under good protection and not in a car seat in the back, and my belly isn't big enough to touch the steering wheel yet, so with the help of my seatbelt, I was able to stay close to the seat and not flop forward.

Angels looking out for Me....

Although I am far from being religious, I do believe that there was angels looking out for me today...
Had a scare today... was driving into town on my way to work, and I hit some really loose gravel. The winds have been really bad out here in the country and I lost control of my car :( It was like hydroplaning on water, but I was on gravel. I'm not sure what the extent of the damage to the car is, I will find out tomorrow once I get a call from the auto body shop. Once we got it out of the ditch, you could tell that the frame was bent. The driver door doesn't open, I had to get out through the passenger side. The tires are out of whack and the brakes don't really line up. My car is a 2005, and has dual airbags.. but neither one went off, so that is something that they are going to look into also. I spent an hour in ER, and just have a bump on my head and minor whiplash, luckily, nothing serious. Baby is doing fine and was not injured :)

My "Grown-Up" Christmas List

'Tis the season to be jolly right? Not in this house for the last week :/ Last weekend, I got the flu and was pretty helpless for 4 days. Not only did things not get done around the house, but I also missed 3 days of work :( There go the extra for Christmas money, Santa will not be making a stop at this house this year. I went back to work on Thursday despite of a sinus infection, thank God for HALLS cough drops, and VICKS vapor rub. Atleast I can semi sleep at night (when I don't wake up freezing cold cause someone snatched the blankets and rolled himself into a burrito....)

The other day, Tom asked me what *I* wanted for Christmas. First thought was "What scrappy stuff will I need for baby's book..." and then I thought, lets be a little realistic on this. As much I would LOVE new stuff, right now, the money just isn't there for the extras. So... I'll settle on a new toilet seat for the upstairs bathroom, for the tub surround to be re-caulked, bathmats, and a new shower curtain. I also want new carpet in the baby's room, and paint for the bathroom. He laughed, as that stuff isn't really "for me" pffft. OK.. I'll take some new socks too. I'd also like kids that listen and that don't get into my scrapbooking stuff which is a whole 'nother story, and neither of the girls will confess who's been in my pens or how they end up in their school bags.... Needless to say, he didn't really seemed "thrilled" with my list (hey, I was trying to be reasonable...) so my Mom is picking up the bathmats and shower curtain for me, because well, moms "get it". I'm still working on the toilet seat tho... the one that's in there is plastic and peeling and well, probably 20+ years old. And THAT is how I know that I'm Officially a "boring" grownup, since I'm not really wanting anything "fun" for myself, and I haven't really even crafted anything in months....

Thanks for listening to my rambling post.... I honestly have nothing really major to blog about, but figured that I should here and there even if it's just meaningless ones like this one :)

Papier Mâché Piggies

Two weeks ago when I took the girls to my parents house, we Papier Mâché 'd over balloons to make Piggy Banks.

Then, this last weekend, we painted and decorated them!

^Even Tom got in on it!

This was the end result!

The green one will go in the baby's room. The purple with the skull (Tom drew the skull and I painted it) went to my SIL who likes pirates.

Since Lilly wasn't with us, Tom painted her's blue.

Sarah painted the pink one and Ashley painted the purple one with the flowers.

Had my first official baby doctor appointment today :) All is well. The due date was changed from May 3rd to April 28, as Baby Hall is measuring at 14 weeks and 4 days. We go back in a month for the next check up.

Football Sweatshirt

Got the cricut out this last weekend... Jordan purchased a School Sweatshirt, and he wanted his name and football number on the back of it. This was cut with SCAL. Font is Comic Sans. I used Heat and bond to get the letters on the sweatshirt, and we still need to pick up some fabric paint to outline the edges.

(and this picture isn't the greatest as it looks like "hali" but it's Hall .. when Jordan has it on, it reads better... but he was already sleeping, so I put the sweatshirt on for the pic :)

Wow! So many things have happened in the last I-don't-know how many months, I don't know where to start!

I am hoping that now I will have time to post more scrappy things.. as I have a lot of exciting things to start scrapping..

In a nutshell...

Andre and I broke up in June. It was pretty much a mutual thing.. He didn't want to move that far from his family, and I didn't want to move that far from mine. We are still friends, and usually play "catch up" once a week or so :)

I then was planning on moving back to MN, as I wanted to have more time with Lilly. Well.. in the 2 months that I was there, I had seen her about as much as I did when I was in IA. Her Dad had many different things going on with her, including a 2 week road trip to California, and a week in Wisconsin, that I only got to see her about 4 times (every other weekend, since I was working during the days) I also was making about half a third of what I did in Iowa, which with child support, insurance and taxes I would end up with less than $100 each week... so I explained that to my ex husband, and he said that he understood if I needed to move back to Iowa..

2 weeks before my move, I started dating Tom.. We've know eachother for over 5 years, and finally thought about the what-ifs and such.. (and looking back, we wished we would have hooked up months ago!)

All my weekends off were spent in IA when Lilly was with her brother and sister, and Tom would come up to MN on the weekends that I had Lilly. Lilly and I went to IA for a weekend together as well.. She LOVES him!

On Aug. 21, I found out that Tom and I are expecting :) It was then that I decided to move back to IA, and in with Tom. "Baby H" is due May 3rd, and all the kids are super excited to meet their little brother or sister. (this has not been posted on FB yet.. Most of my family still doesn't know..)

I am sure that I will have tons of REAL posts from now on, as not only does Lilly like to help with the crafting, but Tom's two daughters love to do it too.

Packin' and Movin'..

I'm in the process of packing up my apartment and moving back to my parents house in Minnesota. Although I'm gonna miss my Iowa peeps, I'm excited to see my parents more, spend more time with Lilly and having Central Air! (haha, had to throw the last one in there.. My apt is 98 degrees right now.. Dang AC doesn't reach all rooms) Anyways... My projected move date is July 1st, and I am lucky enough to be able to transfer through work so I will have a full time job and all my benny's still.

I was going to whip up some New Address cards before I pack all my stuff up - Any idea of a phrase or quote? My last move out of my Ex's house was "movin' on and movin' out" with a moving van. I was thinking a house shaped (single sided) card.

decorative outlet covers

Here are pictures of my latest project! Each year I have a booth at the bulbs to blossoms sale in clear lake, however this year I was rained out but it still show the items that I made for it.

I picked a bunch of outlet switch plate covers from work, they were about 18 cents apiece. I then painted them with acrylic paint, and then seal them with a satin clear spray paint. it helps if you use sandpaper and rough up the top a little bit the paint tends to stick a little bit better.
I will post a couple more tomorrow ones that I used wallpaper to decorate.

Christmas Card

A little late in posting, but here is the card that I sent to Andre.
Candy Canes were from Christmas Cheer.
Paper is from the Shimmer Stack.
The Merry Christmas I printed directly on the paper, sprinkled some clear embossing powder, and used the heat gun on it.
The gold paper is vellum, and the silver ribbon was in my stash.

Inside read. "No matter what I get for Christmas, you're all I really need" which was also printed and heat embossed for a nice raised look.

I must say that I am more than glad that I did this recap post, as it brought a surprising and sad email from a friend. I hope that he doesn't mind me sharing this, but I received an email from Ron, from the Ron and Kili recap in the 2008 post. I read it just as I was walking in to work, and by the time I was to my desk, I was in tears.

Remember back in 2008 you helped in campaigning for votes for Ron and Kili. Ron and Kili had entered a video contest on YouTube as residents from Bayshore Apartments, You had urged all your contacts to vote for Ron and Kili. Ron and Kili had received over 6,500 votes from YouTube viewers and from 37 countries.

Kili and I thank you for your wonderful support in 2008. January 3, 2011, Kili passed away from a long illness from copper toxicity. Kili had been Ron's faithful Service Assistance canine since July 2002. You remember watching Kili remove clothes from Ron's electric dryer while filming Ron and Kili episode on YouTube.

Thank you and your many friends for supporting Ron and Kili in 2008.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Ron, as Kili was a great companion. She will be missed, and will live forever in our hearts.

I talked to my friend, Beth, whom I had showed the video to back in 2008 and she remembered how cute it was to see Kili taking the clothes out of the dryer. She told me that she will talk to Mr Willie tonight and tell him to show Kili around the Rainbow Bridge.

I feel like there was a reason that I was to do this recap.. and perhaps this reconnection was the reason... kinda odd how God works things out...

2011 : My dreams, Hopes and Wishes for the Future....

There is no where left to look than ahead right now.

I am determined to make my 2011 the best year ever. I have no idea what the future holds right now, but I do know that it will be a busy one. We've got a wedding to plan and figuring to do, who knows where the days will lead me to.

Last year I made resolutions, and well, I wasn't very good at keeping them.. I did for the first month.. *maybe* and well, I'm not quite sure what happened but they did not get done. And I personally didn't think that they were that unreasonable.. read a book, use my page kits etc.. all very with in reach thoughts.

So this year... I'm not quite sure what I want to do. I know that I want to atleast do 2 blog posts a week. I think I'll start with that, and so far.. I'm off to a great start.

We'll end this on a happy note...

2010 Revisited.. and BLOG CANDY TOO!!!

2010 was a year of adventure for me! It was the first full year that I lived on my own (ha, for the first time in my life, I was single.. but not for long :) I juggled work, family, friends and scrapping.. and although it was hard at times.. especially from March - July.. my manager was let go, and I ran the department for those 4 months.. I couldn't have done it with out my bestfriends, Kathy and Beth! They kept me sane .. well mostly.. for that time... they are also the best coworkers anyone could ever ask for! Because of them, I was able to take 2 long weekend trips.. one to the Minneapolis area to meet up with Andre, and the 2nd to go down to his place in Charlotte.

This picture is actually Christmas 2009, but I posted it as my first post in 2010.. Uncle Eric, playing with Lilly and her barbies :)

On a sad note.. next week will be the one year anniversary since my friend, Beth, lost her doggie, Mr. Willie. Shortly after Mr Willie's passing, Beth adopted another doggie from the shelter, Solar, who she says has the same characteristics as Mr Willie, and does a lot of the same things that he used to do, and enjoys the same things.

And here are Miss Lilly's Valentines for the year.. can you believe that she wanted these AGAIN this year?! I told her that maybe she should go with something else since the Vikings had a bad year.. so we decided on Littlest Pet Shop and Batman/Superman. Looks like I got a project to do!

And no valentines day is complete with out handmade cards from your child! Scrapbooker in the making I tell ya!

I was asked by a coworker to make a baby banner for her daughter who was having a girl. She wanted the baby's name and something pink/purple and poofy! Read all about the making of thisbaby banner with my cricut and fabric on this post!

Here is a display board that I made for work! Aren't they adorable?! Sadly, I was told earlier this week that the sheep need to be "relocated" :( as Serta and Menards have finally figured out something to put there that shows the different types of Mattresses that we carry. I've seen pictures of the poster, and maybe I'm just bias, but my Sheep are MUCH cuter! Here's the postwith the full board!

And Cricut Lites were spotted at Walmart! This is pretty much the only scrapbooking stuff that my store now carries :( so sad the selection is limited to a 4 foot section.

I hope that you enjoyed the 2008 trip down "Memory Lane" as I sure did enjoy the comments! It's fun and exciting to hear what everyone's first project was :)

This post will be the first half of 2009 as there was 150 posts that year, so I'm sure I'll find tons of favorites to share with you!

January 2009

This was back when I was with Charlie, and we were kitty looking, we fell in love with these two adorable kittens, Oscar and Maddison

I had a request for some other types of refrigerators, so here's a file for all your cooling needs!

And this was the first year that I made Lilly's Valentines for her Kindergarten class. The Hannah Montana cartridge wasn't out yet, so I found a stamp and went to town.. 2 1/2 hours on 10 valentines! Eeek!

And here you can download a PDF file of all the overlays for the Paper Doll Dress up cartridge. I originally did these for a friend who had just gotten her cricut.

February 2009 brought us CHA and the "rumor" of Design Studio Pro. 2 years later.. still no Design Studio Pro, but they did release the Gypsy over a year later. They also said that there would absolutely be no Paper Dolls 2 Cartridge.. Yet.. we did get Paper Dolls for Everyday (over a year later...)

Remember the Life's a Beach Fiasco?! That was the only Cartridge that I not only preordered, but paid "full" price for (I think it was like $55 or something) and I think I only used the cartridge ONCE.

March 2009 brought us the story of Ron and his dog Kili, where we all pitched in an voted to help them win a years free of rent. Their video is still up on You Tube, so if you don't remember it or never got to check it out... head over there and do so! RON AND KILI VIDEO

They had won the public vote (with 34% of the votes) , which got them $50 credit towards rent, and then the final decision was left to a panel of 7. They did not win the grand prize, but they did get the President's Award, which was a prize that they created just for him. If I remember correctly he did get like 2 or 3 months for rent and Kili got a shopping trip at Pet Smart.

May was the launch of Let Me Show You How To Do That, which is still up and running withCapadia and Jen C It's an online class that shows you how to run Design Studio.

And in June is when I first purchased the Sure Cuts A Lot program, and stated making a few SVG Files.

This is when Design Studio first came out, and many of us had the George cartridge, so many of these designers were made with JUST that cartridge by manipulating the shapes and sizes, and now many of the shapes and designs can be found on the current cartridges, so these files are handy if either you just have the trial version of Design Studio, or if you don't have the cartridge that it is on!

March 2, 2008 Here is a fireplace, that is made with only George! Check out the "flames"!

April 10, 2008 . . . The day I got stuck in my driveway as I was heading to McDonalds for some Iced Coffee. Many people drove by, and one guy tried to help, but I think he was in a hurry cause he didn't stay very long. But then.. My Mail Man, I was told his name is Gordy, stopped. Not only did he have a ton of packages for me, but he helped me get my car unstuck!

So, as a Thank you, I made him a card, and I also stuck in $20 to the local gas station in there for him! (and yes, after I was unstuck... I went and got my iced coffee!)

Here's an image that has yet to be put on a cartridge! PC needs a Mini "Weather" one, I think a Solutions one would be able to cover most things! TORNADO!

And here is the ONLY layout I did that year... and it was a 6x6! This was an "All about me" page

August 2008 Did you get any NEW kitchen appliances and want to scrapbook about it?! Well, there's a cut file for that!

Yes! I still know how to make .cut files! lol! 'bout time I start doing something.

I need a Gas Grill for a card, and I couldn't find anything that I liked on the cartridges, so out come's good O'George and a bunch of random shapes to make one.

The file is for the E, but just change the mat size and it will work with the baby or create too.

Chances are, you already shop at a good handful of the stores that are listed with this site. Like JoAnn's.. or HSN...or even Ebay! so why not get an extra "kick back" from your purchases? JoAnn's has a 5% rebate, and HSN has a 6% rebate... Ebay has a 5% rebate.. and many more! Plus, you can have the money put into a paypal account once you hit $10 in rebates.

On a side note, I did get the flowers ordered, Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I went with the Celebrations by Radko. I was googling coupons to see if I could find something more than 25%, and that's how I found MrRebates. I got an additional 16% through them :) They will be delivered on Thursday, so I'm now anxiously awaiting to hear how they turned out!
Now I'm off to get some more cards made... I completed all my "bulk" ones, and now have a handful of special ones to make.. going to try doing them as the "Tri Shutter cards", and will definitely post when they are done!

Bean Bag project

So Menards had these bean bags for the day after Thanksgiving. I won't lie, they are ugly. But, with some fabric and a sewing machine, they can turn out pretty cute. Its not perfect, but she is 7 and it will serve its purpose... And is much more inviting than the red. This took 3 yards of fabric, and I didn't have a pattern so I made it up as I went. The base was cut as a 50" diameter, and then 2 halves, cut slightly longer on the straight side so the 2 pieces would overlap. It is bigger than the bean bag, should have done a 40" diameter. But hey, it works right? And it can easily be taken off to wash.

Etched Jars

Here are two gifts for my coworkers, Beth and Kathy. The both have a 4 legged family member so I thought I'd make them treat jars.
Dog images were found on the web, fonts are Arial black and Comic Sans. Paw prints were found online too. Jars from Hobby Lobby, and were only $2.50 each! Can't beat that!

Wow! Has the month flown by or what??? Just 14 more days till Christmas.. can't believe it's already here... I still have yet to finish my cards, gotta stop procrastinating! I think I'll get them done tonight so that I can mail them out.

Between here and a Yahoo group that I am in, I got plenty of ideas on what to get her.

Some mentioned to get her paper and a cartridge and let her make her own. The thing is, she lives with her dad, 3 hours away, so the time I see her is limited. Getting her a cricut of her own is out of the budget too right now, and I have mentioned this and the cuttlebug/cuddle kids to her and her father and well, he doesn't seem interested in the "upkeep" of it as he looks at it. And he tells me that like most 7 year olds, right now she doesn't really "take care" of her stuff, so he was afraid that if he wasn't around when she would be using it, that she might break it. (I don't see it, she's very careful with mine, but maybe cuz she knows its mine?) And I have asked her if she wanted her own, and she said "why? I can use yours when you come up" I think that if she had her own, maybe it won't be as "special" to her when I bring mine up and we create things, as it would be something that she could do whenever she wanted to at her dads.

So, if I did paper dolls in magnetic material, does this come in different colors? or would I have to color it in? What kinds of markers would be more permanent? (besides copic.. I have some BIC ones, perhaps they would work?)

Some other ideas that I got were Cookie mixes in jars, Nifty knitter, card kit, village for her to decorate, Word book (using her name),. Gift basket with travel sized items, Dress up clothes, etc.

I did find the other night while cleaning, a small heart-shaped locket in my jewelry box. It hold likes 8 pictures, so I will find some {family} pictures and give it to her also. I believe I got it many years ago (I wanna say I was in 10th grade? I think it was a confirmation gift...)

I'll be sure to post pictures as I get things together.. atleast I have a month to get things ready, and still not even sure yet if her dad will let her come to my parents house for christmas, or if she'll be at their place the weekend after..

Christmas Gifts for a 7 year old?

So, I've been racking my brain for something to get my 7 year old daughter for Christmas, without blowing my entire "Christmas bonus" ($178, that is an instore credit for Menards, we have a toy section for the holidays..)

She likes it when I bring my cricut up and we cut things out and make "pages" with it. She can run the cricut herself, and when I brought my G up last time, she was able to figure that out too and cut things. She likes picking out the colors, and the princess and wedding girl are the ones that she makes every time...

Would it look like I was "cheap" if I made her a bunch of paper dolls that she could assemble? Along with like Hello kitties, or Hannah montanas and other things? And then I'd put them in a special folder of some sort so she could mix and match them as she wanted.. Maybe use baseball card holders or something..

Anyone else have any other hand made items for a 7 year old? I'm also thinking of a tied fleece blanket, and perhaps a pillow to match.. I just feel horrible cause I've been able to go "all out" the last few years, but this year I won't be able to do anything "big" until her birthday (which I'm buying right away when I get taxes back, since her birthday is in May)

The attack of the Rudolphs..

Been busy this last weekend attempting to make my Christmas cards.. There's roughly 60 or so in the picture below.. and this is just the start of them, still have to put them on the actual card.

Stamp is Hampton Art PS0422 Rudolph

He was stamped in Colorbox Chalk Ink - Chestnut Roan and then the nose/mouth and eyes, antlers/feet were hand colored in red/black.

Mat is from Accent Essentials 3.6x2.4 for white and 3.88x2.6 for the patterned paper. (yes, I had to look it up!)

Hoping to have a finished product in the next few days!

And of course I still haven't got anything scrappy done yet. But I did get this shelf put up in the bathroom; couldn't take the sink clutter anymore. The shelf is actually a piece of backsplash for countertop. I bought an 8 foot piece for $1. Lol, "managers special", although I only needed 30 inches.. and another .69 x 2 for the angle brackets. Still figuring out where I could use the other 66 or so inches, I'm sure I need a mini shelf somewhere around here!

Santa Ray

I was asked again by the store manager to make a few things for our christmas village at work. So I got together with the hardware manager and he wanted a santa Ray and Ray as a snowman. I did these last night, and I will put them up in the village tomorrow when I go to work.

Snowman Ray scarf, nose, mouth from snowfriends (I think that's what its called, don't have in front of me right now).

Halloween is soon approaching.. and ya know what that means?! I get to see Andre in 6 days! Ok ok, it's also time for Trick or Treaters, which I will be missing in IA. So sad as a friend of mine is taking her two adorable twin girls out, and I'm gonna miss it :( But I did get pictures of them trying on their Lamb outfits (they will be 2 in November) and they are SO PRECIOUS!!!

So, since I'm missing it, I'm making them cards, and giving them their 'treats' early (which will probably be something along the lines of Animal Crackers) I also made one for Miss Lilly too, and I'll be getting hers in the mail probably on Tuesday.

I was inspired by Robyn (The Pink Stamper) during a post she did back in September. Here is a link to her post. She did a video with the Imagine using the Create a Critter Cartridge.

The Chickie was cut from Create a critter, the hat and cauldron are from PDDU. The hat was embellished with Stickles (Platinum) and the cauldron with Lime Green. It might be hard to tell, but the orange paper was embossed with Pumpkin Harvest. "Trick or Tweet" printed from my computer (Black Chancery for the Font) Hat was cut in Dark purple cardstock, which shows up a LOT better in person.

Weekend at the Farm

Went up to MN this last weekend to visit Lilly, and our first stop was JoAnn's :)

This ghost ended up following us home, and now sits in Grandpa's yard...

We went to Nelson's Farm, a family owned farm about 20 minutes from my parents that has animals and games and stuff for kids to do. Here's just a few random pictures from the weekend!

I have a friend that is getting married in 3 weeks in Vegas, so I wanted to create a vegas-type card. Thanks to Larkspur and Skipperkim on the Cricut board for the ideas of a Slot Machine and "Lucky in Love" (which is written on the inside)

Halloween....

Is just around the corner!! And ya know what that means... Fun Halloween Display at the store!
So... on Monday, I was asked by the Hardware Manager to recut the letters that I did last year. Last year they used glue to hang them up, and well, they didn't survive the tear down :( So.. this year I got smart, and laminated them. He also requested a Ray that was about this *holding hands up in the air* tall. For those that don't know, I work for Menards, and our "Spokesman" so to speak is Ray, The Menards Guy. So... I grabbed some signstock from work that matched the Lemex SPOOKY TOWN lettering perfectly, and took it home, and with SCAL I was able to create 2 fun Rays, and the lettering.

Originally, this was suppose to go down one of the aisle above the Spooky Town Village, hanging from the shelves. However... when Nick (The Hardware Manager) saw the Rays that I made.. he said that they deserved to be in the MAIN AISLE cuz they were "so damn good"

This picture (well.. not the exact one I guess.. the one I used had feet) is what my "template" was last year when I made Ray for Christmas... HERE IS a link to my Original RAY and CHRISMTAS RAY (Which, Christmas Ray will be redone for the Christmas display this year.. bigger and made in to Santa Ray... too bad he never had a girlfriend lol for Mrs Claus :)

The Font is POST CRYPT , which can be found FREE on many different font sites. Do you see Ray?? The letters were cut at 10 1/3 x 4 1/2. Then Laminated. I then punched holes into them, and used Ornament hooks through the holes. The Hardware Department used a Staple gun to attach to the Lattice fence piece (which is covered by the black fabric) and then the ornament hooks were bent around the staples The overall aisle is about 7-8 feet wide.

I did use PPDU for the hair, otherwise, everything else was cut from SCAL

And here is "Dra -Ray -cula"

Hair and Cape from PPDU, you can't tell at all but the cape has a seam right through the middle. Since his body covers it, it looks like ONE piece :) I believe the bottom of the cape from left to right measure like 15 inches, and height of cape is 11 inches (I just have 12x12 mats for my cricut) Hard to see in the picture, but on his shirt where the collar is turned, I used brads to hold it back.

So, there is the Mason City Menards' Main Aisle Halloween Display for the year! I hope you enjoyed looking at it as much as I had making the pieces for it! Tomorrow's the "BIG" day.. ya see, the Main Store Manager had the day off today... so.. I'm hoping that he will like this display as much as the rest of the Team! And then again Tuesday... when peeps from the General Office make their weekly visit..

This has been a crazy week as between work and trying to work on my project, it's been a wonder I've gotten much sleep. This was a challenge for me, as I don't really have any back to school type pictures, and with Lilly being with her father, well, he's not always good about remembering to bring the camera places. However, I know that they have school pictures and "First day of School" and such, and she likes to color and draw, so she can always do that to fill this book up.

For this hop, I did a mini book. The overall size is 10x10. I wanted to do something unique that I haven't done before, so me and my Bind it All got to know eachother a little bit, as we did a few runs cause I've never done more than one set of holes before. After checking out some online tutorials on how to line up the punches, I still think I did it wrong :) But it opens, closes and looks alright, so that's all I'm worried about.

Most of the patterened paper is by The Paper Studio, and the solid cardstock was just random pieces in my stash.

I apologize for the bad photos, couldn't find my camera so used my phone, and the lighting in my place is horrible!

The book is made with Matboard, and I cut the windows out on my cricut. All lettering was done with Cricut Keystone. The bus and the 2nd Grade were cut from Locker Talk. Faces from Paper Doll Dress Up.

Hey Look! A blog post! Been feeling pretty guilty about not posting a thing.. but then I haven't really been crafting either :(
But here's a few pictures of my latest trip to MN. It was my Brother's 23rd, so I got to hang out with him and his wife, my parents, and of course Lilly ♥

Here is Lilly and I next to my brother's sunflowers. They are over the roof now. My SIL says that he waters them with rain water that he stores, and sings to them at night. She's hoping that this is a sign that he will make a great dad one day :)

Well, My Walmart got rid of all the regualar cartridges, and made room for the new Cricut Lite ones. Baby Banner

Here are pictures of one of my bigger projects. I have a friend who's daughter is having a baby girl next month, and she asked me to make a banner type thing to go over her crib.

We went shopping one day and she picked out all the fabric, and then it was up to me to make it into something pretty.

The fabric was just a cotton blend, and I used heat and bond (I think that's what its called) to bond to the fabric, then cut it out, and iron on to the base fabric.

I choose Storybook for the font, as it not only was pretty, but had a nice accent piece too.
I cut it out at 7 inches, using my Gypsy and Expression.

To make the letters "pop" litte more, I used a dark purple fabric paint. Thanks to my friends on the Cricut Message board for all their suggestions!

I got these rhinestone words at JoAnn's. The Crown is from Paper Doll Dress up.

The hardest part about this project is that my friend wanted it "cloud shape and puffy". I did the "pattern" I guess you could call it, freehand. I had many fights with my sewing machine as the quilt batting kept getting caught. I also put a layer of "fluff" that I got at JoAnns in the clearance section - it was the fake snow that was left over from Christmas. Once all but 6 inches was sewn, I turned it inside out (or actually then it was right side out) and added more fluff to it in spots to poof it out a bit.
Special Thanks to RianandZoeysGram, from the Cricut Board, for sending me the pink and purple baby yarn to tie the project with.
The butterflies and the swirl were also cut from Storybook.

And below is the finished project! The banner is about 18 inches wide x almost 72 inches long. Just perfect to go above a crib. My friend and her daughter were both thrilled with the end result! Baby Isabella will be joining the world in less than a month!

OMG.. I am very sorry to all my followers that I have been MIA for the last umpteen months. (ok, it's been almost 3) Life has caught up with me, and now I think I can post atleast weekly. I think if I just put it on my to do list and do it, it will get done!

I have been working on a few projects here and there, so I have a few posts that I can do :)

Those on Facebook have seen a lot of the stuff that I will be posting, so sorry for 'repeats'
I'm hoping to get a little time tonight to do a few cut files and post those too - dunno if anyone's looking for anything in particular (that hasn't already been done) but hopefully it will be helpful to some.

Sorry for the delay in these - worked all weekend, and now I've got a horrible sinus infection. I'm feeling a little better, and should be "up to par" tomorrow :)

You will need :: Mickey and Friends (For the Train) Geroge (rectangle to combined the train - can substitute any cart with a rectangle on it and I did the train wheels, again can sub with any circle) You can use any font for the name, or leave it blank!

The coworker that I made these for (the Issac and Ryan) I also did wordbooks with their names. She LOVED them! And, even tho I told her she didn't owe me a thing for them, she insisted that she paid me - she gave me $20 (Wow!) She also said that I should do that as my Job instead of working there, LOL, if I could make 40K+ making cards, I'd be there. But, I love my job and the people that I work with :) Anyway.. back to the files..

Unicorn Shields and Wooden Spoons

While at Rennaissance Festival last year, I picked up these two adorable wooden shields. My first intent was to decorate them myself, and then give them to Lilly and her sister Joslyn. Well, I never got around to decorating them, so I decided that it may be fun for them to decorate them instead! So I brought them with me up to MN this last weekend, and Lilly and Joslyn went to town decorating them! And then.. Grandma gave the girl wooden spoons for their "swords". Altered Tin

Here is a tin that I altered for a prize on my Bingo Group! June was our Winner that month, and the theme was cards, with a bonus of an altered tin. So I decorated the tin, and filled it with the cards that the other members had sent in as their contribution to the prize pot.

Target $1 spot for the brads, the flowers were a gift and I can't remember what brand. The butterfly border was plain silver, and then I used my alcohol inks to color it.

This was cut from Walk in my Garden - the flower pot - and then embossed with "traffic jam" I then used Primas as the flowers.

This was a rustic metal piece that I found in my stash... I covered it in clear ink and poured clear embossing powder on it, and then I used my heat emobssing gun on it

Finally, PC releases something that I DON'T want! LOL
Here is the New Cricut Cake Machine, debuting at CHA
The roller is different than the regular E, there's more "protecting" silicone on the keypad and the cart holder. and it comes in a "kitchen aid" red. MSRP $399.99
Oh, and can't forget about the exclusive "Cake Basics" cartridge - shapes and a font!
PC removed all the images off their site... but these are the ones that I had saved on my computer!

Mr. Willie has passed away. Willie was my friend's best friend. He's part Austrailian Shepard / Border Collie. He was adopted when he was about 2-3 years old, and has spend the last 5 years with his wonderful master. Willie loved taking walks in the park, going for Coffee at the Coffee Cat, and burying his toys in the pillows. He went to many different places including two trips to Colorado, and even stayed at the Hilton in Minneapolis.

On Sunday, January 10, 2010 was Willie's final day on Earth. His spine and stomach had masses of Cancer, and he was unable to move, eat, drink and do what he loved to do. He is awaiting at the Rainbow Bridge where his best friend, Beth, will join him in the future. As for now, he's enjoying his pain free life up in Heaven.

This is the card that I made for my friend.. Doggie was cut out with SCAL, and so were the wings. Wings embossed with D'vine swirl and highlighted with stickles.

Rest in Peace Willie. You are missed very much!!
